Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (BARN) is a creative/makers community on Bainbridge Island, WA. Its 25,000 square foot building houses ten studios that allow artists and craftspeople to thrive each day by providing spaces to learn, make, collaborate and create. For more information, visit www.bainbridgebarn.org.
Steve Bice is retired from the Centers for Disease Control after 42 years of service. He conceived and Directed the Nation’s Strategic National Stockpile of medical supplies and equipment that responded to the 9/11 terrorist attacks and more than 25 other national and international medical and public health emergencies. Today, Steve is concentrating on writing fiction, fantasy and short stories. He’s a member of the Steering Committee for the Writer’s Studio in the Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network. He and his wife, Nicole live on Bainbridge Island.
Kassia Sing has been a storyteller her whole life, fostering the “overactive imagination” she’s had since childhood. After trading the corporate ladder for Bainbridge Island life, Kassia joined the Writers Studio at BARN (Bainbridge Artisans Resource Network), formerly known as Fields End, and it changed her life. She is a member of Sound Writers, hosts weekly writing sessions for the Writers Studio, and serves as a volunteer for BARN. She writes long and short fiction; three of her short stories were published in a digital publication, Context Journal.
Janet McLain Smith is a published poet and longtime psychotherapist and educator with a love of Jungian archetypes, world cultures/mythologies and a fascination with patterns that interweave through relationships and far-reaching places. She is founder and director of The Mother House Fund, a nonprofit supporting local and global efforts that demonstrate acts of compassion and life-changing outcomes for the earth, children and their families. Janet lives on Bainbridge Island’s Eagle Harbor and is forever entertained by poking about in tide pools with friends and family, and watching the jumbo ferries go by.
